Field Trip to Uganda

For the first time ever, we are auctioning off the opportunity of a lifetime. Witness first-hand how Action Against Hunger provides clean water and food for displaced persons thanks to your support.

Up to four people will travel to Uganda for four days with ACF-USA Executive Director, Nan Dale, to visit camps of internally displaced persons in the Gulu Region. Our program staff have devised some ingenious ways to deliver water, sanitation, and food security to these people. See for yourself how much your support means to them. This will be scheduled at your convenience between mid February and mid March 2008 or 2009. Value: Priceless -- and almost entirely tax-deductible!

Robert Polidori Portrait Session

The winning bidder will have the chance to sit for a personal photo portrait by Robert Polidori. He is a featured photographer at the New Yorker and is a contributing photographer for magazines such as Conde Nast Traveller, House and Garden, Newsweek, and Vanity Fair. Polidori is a master of urban portraiture and is also one of the world’s pre-eminent architectural photographers.

His stunning work was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last year and is in the collections of such museums as the LA County Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. The winner will also receive an autographed copy of After the Flood, Polidori’s extraordinary photo documentation of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Painting of Tevye, by Samuel (Zero) Mostel

Best known for his Fiddler on the Roof Broadway performances, Samuel (Zero) Mostel was blacklisted by the House Un-American Activities Committee in the mid-‘50s. He supplemented his income by selling his paintings until 1958. Nicknamed Zero by a press agent because he was a "guy who started from nothing", Mostel starred as Tevye in the original Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof in 1964, as well as performed in its 1976 Broadway revival. Value of Tevye’s portrait by Zero Mostel: Priceless.
