Job Objectives: 
Established in the USA in 1985, Action Against Hunger-USA re-opened its New York office in 1997 and currently has responsibility for seven missions in six countries: Democratic Republic of Congo East and West, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, Tajikistan and Uganda. Action Against Hunger USA manages nearly $30 million in programs, has twenty-five permanent staff based in NYC, over 70 international employees and 1,200 national employees in the missions.
Main Objective
To coordinate and manage the given project and meet the necessary objectives within the projected time frame and budget of the project in accordance with the ACF Charter.
Responsibilities
Coordination of the program activities
  • To ensure the standardisation of protocols used for all activities and reporting.
  • To evaluate impact of the program and to develop tools for monitoring.
  • If need be, definition of new potential projects.
  • To work in collaboration with logistics and administration to ensure the follow up of the budget line and the adequate supply of needed items.
    Management and of the program teams
  • To manage and evaluate the Program Managers.
  • To provide technical support to the Program Managers and liaise with technical reference in New York.
  • To collaborate with the Program Managers and the administration for the review of job description, and the staff management issues (recruitment, trainings, ...).
    Representation
  • To ensure good and regular relations with authorities and other actors in the project area .
  • To collect information on related activities implemented by other actors in the project country.
  • To liaise with the Government and other Aid Agencies to advocate the implementation of reforms into public health services, especially in the region of intervention of Action Against Hunger.
    Reporting
  • To do a monthly report of the program activities.
  • To participate with the nutrition expatriates and the Head of Mission to the reporting for donors, and the redaction of proposals.
  • To ensure the collection of the field reports on time.
  • To give a feed back to the program manager's monthly report.
  • To send all monthly reports to headquarters after reviewing and harmonizing.
  • Qualifications: 
  • Technical specialty with the project objectives.
  • Strong management and coordination skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Interest in working in a development setting.
    Experience
  • Experience in defining strategy and program intervention.
  • Previous overseas humanitarian experience essential.
  • Experience in one of the ACF programs- either nutrition, water and sanitation, or food security.
  • At least two years previous experience of staff management essential.
