The work of nearly 30 emerging artists will be represented at an art event and auction that has promised a portion of the proceeds to Action Against Hunger. nAscent Art New York, a ground-breaking Manhattan art company, today announced the “Art On The Block” event, slated for July 12, 2007. Art On The Block 7.12.7 will feature 70 pieces, including paintings, sculpture, mixed media, and photography.
nAscent has committed 20% of the profits from art sales to Action Against Hunge, an international humanitarian aid organization specializing in emergency situations including war, conflict, natural disasters and longer-term assistance to people in distress.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Action Against Hunger,” said James Wallace, nAscent President and co-founder. “They’re a global organization recognized for fighting hunger and malnutrition. Besides having immense talent, the emerging artists participating
are excited that some of the sales of their work will help people truly in need.”
nAscent, led by 22 year-old CEO and Director of Art Jennifer Baron, reviewed over 2,200 pieces of art from over 500 artists before settling on the artists participating in the auction. A sampling of the work can be seen at nascentartny.com. Many of the artists have done exhibitions in the city, but some have never shown work before.
“The artists represent a range of genres and media, so everyone will see something that speaks to them. Every piece is worthy of hanging in someone’s home, office, private collection, or gallery,” said Baron.
nAscent Art New York grew from a passion for art. The founders, Jennifer Baron and James Wallace, have realized a vision of creativity, commerce, and good karma. nAscent finds the best of the new in a variety of genres and media, bringing everything together at auction. More importantly, nAscent gives art fans the opportunity to create incentives for artists to continue creating amazing art, and to preserve the legacy of art for the future. nAscent wants people to have fun, appreciate the sacrifices of the artists, and, most of all—to buy art.
Art On The Block will take place Thursday, July 12, at Neo Studios, 628 Broadway,
3rd Floor (between Bleecker and West Houston). The VIP viewing goes from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., immediately followed by the general viewing until midnight. Art On The Block will feature live music, food, wine, and beer. Partners include Tagine Restaurant, Clifford Henderson Design, Wine Cellar Sorbet, Nook Restaurant, and Magic Hat Beer, exclusive beer sponsor of Art On The Block.
