About Nelger Rios
Nelger Rios, a native of Peru, attended Federico Villareal University in Lima, Peru, where he obtained a degree in accounting and economics. During his college years, Nelger furthered his interest in humanitarian work as a volunteer with Mision de la Luz Divina, concentrating his efforts on food and clothing drives to benefit the poorest sections of Lima and Chiclayo. After immigrating to the United States, he attended Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx, NY, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Nelger has dedicated his career to the field of non-profit and humanitarian organizations, and has had varied experiences. He worked as an Accounting Assistant at the Village Nursing Home, one of the first institutions to address the HIV crisis in New York City, and with Lucha, Inc.’s drug rehabilitation and group home programs for troubled teen-agers, where he was employed as an Accountant. Before joining Action Against Hunger (ACF) in 2000, Nelger also worked as Financial Director for the East Bronx Council on Aging.
